The young Macadamia orchard is located 1/2 kilometer from the main
house, on a good cobblestone street and situated on the crest of
a gently sloping hill where one can view Asuncion and the
Rio Paraguay in the distance.  These 10 hectares (25 acres) are
planted with 2,300 well established three and four year old
macadamia trees.  They have been pruned and fertilized regularly.
There is a full-time orchardist to cut the grass, spray, etc.
This man is paid $150. monthly for his services and additional
help is available for $4. per day.  The orchard also has a tenant
house for use by employees. .  It is basic but does have running
water and a bathroom. The orchard is served with electric and
community waterservice.

We are members of The Macadamia Society of Paraguay, where members
collaborate with other growers.  Statistics about this crop and
the worldwide macadamia industry are readily available over the
internet. The value of the orchard and income will rise each year
as the trees mature and increase their production.
